When Excel is no longer enough

A spreadsheet is a great starting point, especially for a small team or a single event. Over time, four limits almost always show up:

Frequently asked questions

Are these schedule templates really free?

Yes. All three files are free, with no sign-up and no email address required. You can edit, print and share them with your team as you like.

Do they work with Google Sheets and LibreOffice?

Yes. The templates are plain .xlsx files, with no macros and no merged cells. In Google Sheets, import the file from File > Import; LibreOffice Calc opens it directly.

How do I change the times and roles?

Just click in the cells and replace the text: times, role names, days. You can also add rows or columns; the formatting is copied along with them.

How do I print the schedule one page wide?

The layout is already set: A4 landscape, fit to one page wide, with the header row repeated on every page. Just hit print.

How do I share the schedule with volunteers?

Email the file, print it and put it up on site, or drop it in a shared folder. As soon as several people need to edit it, keeping a single up-to-date version gets hard.

How is this different from Planigramme?

The Excel template is a table you fill in yourself. With Planigramme, volunteers sign up on shifts on their own, swap between themselves and reminders go out automatically. For a small team or a single event, Excel is often enough.
